According to the National Fire Protection Association’s (NFPA) most recent yearly statistics available, U.S. fire departments responded to an estimated 27,100 home structure fires in 2010 that were intentionally set. These fires caused 310 deaths, 860 injuries and $551 million in property damage.

February 20, 2013 will mark 10 years since the tragic Station Nightclub fire. That fire killed 100 people and injured many more in both physically and mentally. Body Found After Explosion in East Harris County

At about 7:30 a.m. this morning the La Porte Fire Department responded to an explosion and fire in the 11400 Block of Fairmont Parkway in east Harris County. Upon arrival the La Porte Fire Department found heavy fire and structural damage to the Air Liquide Specialty Gas Facility.

Sunday, November 4th is the end of Daylight Saving. Before you go to bed Saturday night, November 3rd, set your clocks back 1 hour. And don’t forget to change the batteries in your smoke detectors… and test them monthly.
