The Parks Department provides safe and attractive environments by upgrading equipment, purchasing land, and building new facilities. Accommodations in Precinct Two include ADA/CPSC approved playground equipment, picnic facilities, baseball and soccer fields, boat ramps, and fishing piers.
The 39 parks located in Precinct Two cover 4,000 acres, which include 14 miles of walking trails. In order to maintain an efficient parks program, administrators continuously monitor department activities and policies. Because Precinct Two encompasses such a large area, the Parks Department has three divisions: East Parks, Central Parks, and South Parks.
In 1992, Precinct Two started a wildflower program that is aesthetically pleasing and cost effective (lower maintenance). Today, the 50 wildflower areas remain an important part of the Parks Department, and can be seen throughout Precinct Two. For additional information concerning Precinct Two wildflower areas call Jerri Fletcher at (713) 455-0062. Another Parks Department entity is the Armand Bayou Nature Center . Harris County owns the land, but the nature center has a 99-year lease to manage the property. Located at 8500 Bay Area Boulevard in Clear Lake, the nature center's 2,500 acres encompasses three ecosystems: grasslands, hardwoods, and wetlands. Within each ecosystem, visitors will experience a vast array of wildlife and botanical environments, each preserved in their natural habitat.

Central Parks include the area west of the San Jacinto River and north of the Houston Ship Channel. This area also spans from the inner city to the northern section of Precinct Two. These 18 parks are maintained by a park manager, who offices at the Miller Road Camp.
