JOB TITLE:                  Operator II

 

DEPARTMENT:            Harris County Precinct One

Road & Bridge Department - North Region

 

HOURS:                       40 Hours per Week/Flexible

Monday - Friday

 

SALARY:                     Starting $11.50 per Hour

                                   Based on 26 Pay Periods

 

EDUCATION:  High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent is preferred.

 

EXPERIENCE:  One (1) year experience in roadway mowing and trash removal is preferred. 

 

JOB SKILLS:  A safe driving record and a valid Texas Commercial Driver's License (CDL), Class “B” are required.  Good knowledge of tools, equipment, and procedures required to perform tasks; ability to follow written and oral instructions; ability to work well with others.  Must possess skills to operate tractor, mowing and other power equipment.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION:  Follows written and oral instructions.  Cleans ditches and culverts of brush, trash, and rubbish. Trims branches and bushes which overhang county roadways and rights-of-way. Patches potholes with asphalt and repair concrete sidewalks; picks up trash along roadways and rights-of-way; drives pick-up trucks to transport crew and equipment to worksite; drives tractors with mower attachment to cut grass along roadways, rights-of-way, and hike-and-bike trails; operates slope, wing, and bushog mowers; uses shovels, rakes, weedeaters and other equipment.  Perform related work as assigned.
